What an honor to meet Dr. Parker today. He was absolutely wonderful, as I expected he'd be from our phone and email communications. I was told when I first arrived in his office this AM that he was running a little late because he'd been in surgery all night. Despite that, he was on time, and exceptionally patient and kind with me. First did an exam, then we met in his office. He said he is "very encouraged" after being able to lay his hands on this fibroid for himself that the surgery will be successful laparoscopically. We reviewed my MRI, he took a lot of time going over that, and drawing pictures to explain things further. We discussed extending this to an open abdominal procedure if that becomes necessary, but he understands maintaining my ability to carry a pregnancy is of utmost importance. I commented on the family picture behind his desk and we talked about his three sons for a minute. He's just such a great person!
Surgery is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM EST and he expects surgery will take 3 hours. The gyn oncologist he has worked with for 30 years is scheduled to assist so I don't think I could possibly be in better hands. Please keep all involved medical personnel in your thoughts and prayers.
