Eight weeks today!  I guess I'll restart the same thing as I did with Parker's pregnancy on the blog.

I had my first regular OB visit and she was so excited that I was back and pregnant.  She said "you told me when Parker was born that you wanted another.  I have occasionally wondered about you and what had happened, if you'd quit trying, since I hadn't seen you in a while."  I told her that as long as I had embryos I was going to keep trying because I wanted a sibling for Parker so badly.  And here I am.  Yes, it took about a year longer than I would have liked but it is all working out.  So I had another ultrasound today and baby looks great again!  Heart rate was 161 and baby measures 8 weeks and 1 day, which is perfect!  Growing and developing well.  My OB said they now have fantastic hand-held ultrasound devices in the office.  My next appointment is in two weeks when she will use that portable machine and we'll get to see baby again.  I'm always happy and relieved when I get to actually see baby.

What's going on with baby this week:  Baby should measure about 1.6 cm long.  His/her embryonic tail is just about gone, and all organs, muscles and nerves are beginning to function.  In the brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.  Baby's hands now bend at the wrist and feet are starting to lose their webbed appearance.  His/her eyelids cover more the eyes and taste buds are forming on the tongue.

How do I feel:  I am definitely more nauseous this time than I was with Parker.  It comes in waves all day long but I'm glad there has been no vomiting.  As a result, I often don't feel like eating, but know I need to for baby.  Also quite tired, but am working several extra shifts so that doesn't help.

What I'm looking forward to:  The next appointment and ultrasound, of course,  and feeling a little more energetic again.
