Everything is looking perfect today. The ultrasound included most of the fetal anatomy scan. We saw a normal brain, an intact upper lip, a nice four chamber heart with normal major vessels, the stomach and bladder, two kidneys, a 3 vessel umbilical cord with normal insertion, normal spine, all four extremities, hands and feet. The ultrasonographer was able to determine the gender but she knew I didn't want to know so she turned off the patient monitor while looking in that area. It's weird to think that someone knows and I don't. But she didn't share that info with any of my doctors either, only listed it as normal genitalia in the record, which is enough for me. Fetal heart rate was 135 and the baby weighs 7 ounces.
My cervix is perfect, long and solid as it should be. That fibroid we were watching turns out not to be on my cervix at all but is on the lower, posterior wall of my uterus. That's good news in that as of now the high-risk OB sees no obstacles to a vaginal delivery. Of course there are many things that could change but I'm happy to hear that today. The placenta is on the anterior uterine wall which can cause some women to not feel fetal movement until a little later. So all the anatomy and structures are just as they should be.
My blood pressure is normal, the OB nurse practitioner that I saw had no concerns. I won't see them again until January 2nd. Then will have another ultrasound and regular prenatal check-up. I do get to start the weekly progesterone injections that I wanted. This is used to prevent preterm labor and will also help stabilize the existing fibroids in hopes that they don't grow much during the pregnancy and cause complications.
I'm posting two pics from today but they are not as good as the last ones. The first is labeled, the second is more of the arched back and spine with the baby facing the bottom of the picture.
This is so exciting! One question though, do u think I will actually see you before u have this baby? Where have u been hiding woman? I miss u :(

Thanks Melinda. I've missed you and your co-workers too. Been at other hospitals but will hopefully see you next week. :) If not maybe we can get together for lunch soon.
