Today’s ultrasound and appointment went beautifully! Baby looks great and weighs exactly one pound, just a little more than the average baby at 21 weeks. They did the whole anatomy scan over again and saw nothing unusual. The brain, face, heart, spine, stomach, kidneys and extremities are all looking good. The baby was very active and the high-risk OB thought it looked like a nice, calm baby who moved normally but not wildly. Again, it was a new ultrasonographer who took her time looking at all the parts. Baby initially was lying with legs overhead and wide apart so it was easy for her to see genitalia. She told me when to close my eyes so that I wouldn’t see the goods. The OB does not want to know gender so avoided the area when reviewing the scan herself. At one point it looked like baby was sucking a thumb, a pic of that is below. Baby also had hiccups for a few minutes during the scan. My cervical length and BP are good. I’ve gained about 7 or 8 pounds thus far which they are happy with. So I go back again in a month, on January 31st, for a routine appointment and ultrasound to measure fetal growth.
I do think I’m beginning to feel little movements. Yay! A few times a day I feel a little tap, or tap tap. I’m sure it’ll be more obvious in the next week or two.
