Looks like Dr. S and I are on the same page. Hooray for that! He is also optimistic that the laminaria will do the trick and contribute to a successful cycle. He went over in detail how the laminaria procedure should be done, and offered to do it himself but understands that that means yet another trip to Denver. Seems like something the local infertility doctor can do just as well though, with his suggestions. We also talked about the cramping/contractions and how that can be eased. He seems to think that just the laminaria will be enough to make my cervix more accessible and that in turn will help keep my uterus calmer. I asked about other medications that might be used but he says that none of them have been proven to help so we came to a compromise and I'll get extra Valium prior to the next transfer procedure. There is a medication that he believes could be helpful in this case but it's not yet approved by the FDA so not an option for me. I also asked about him actually performing the next transfer and he agreed that he would prefer that, and that it's easy enough to move the date a few days either way now so that we can make that work out. One more bit of good news was that in the past, cycles done using frozen embryos versus fresh had reduced success rates. But he said that with their techniques for freezing now that those rates are actually pretty similar. He ended the conversation by saying "you have a boatload of embryos and I'm optimistic that we'll make this happen."
