33 week update...

What's going on with baby this week:  If baby is gaining the average amount he or she should weigh over 5 pounds now and may grow an inch longer this week.  He/she is keeping their eyes open when awake.  The pupils of the eyes are now able to constrict, dilate and detect light.  All the bones are hardening except for the skull, which remains soft.

How do I feel:  So very thankful to be this far along with both of us healthy!  The further I get the more I appreciate that fact.  I see far too many young, healthy women who have every reason to have an easy pregnancy that have complications with devastating, heart-breaking outcomes.

What I'm looking forward to:  I'm getting really excited about the baby shower that is a few weeks away!  And I have an interview tomorrow that I'm really looking forward to, with a potential nanny.  She seems almost too good to be true so far.

Today's ultrasound was perfect!  The ultrasonographer spent a lot of time watching for PAC's and we could detect none!!  Fluid level was good.  The baby was active and had the hiccups for several minutes, which I'm told is good "practice breathing."  Baby has flipped back around and is head down again, or vertex.  Heart rate was 130.  Then the doctor came in and did her own review, and confirmed the absence of PAC's.  She said "look at all that hair."  She pointed it out to me and there is a lot of fairly long hair that was waving in the fluid.  Starting next week I see both the regular OB and high-risk OB weekly.  In the home stretch now!
